Health Promotion


Enabling our patients and community to manage and improve their overall health and well-being.

 

Join our Health Promoter, Jennifer, for weekly information sessions to learn more about a variety of options available to you to help you improve your fitness, mental health, eating habits and chronic conditions.

 

GROUP PROGRAMS

 

Health Promotion Information Session

 

Our Health Promotion Program begins with an Information Session where our Health Promotor will go over the various exercise programs that are offered through the Georgian Bay Family Health Team (see details below). You will then have the opportunity to choose a program that interests you. These programs typically run a few times per month. (Please see our events calendar for dates and times offered).

 

Fitness for Health

 

A fun group approach to learn about exercises that will work for you and your current health circumstances. Feel better, move easier, improve your confidence and manage your well-being.

Fitness for Health takes place every Tuesday & Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Collingwood YMCA.

 

 

Nordic Pole Walking

 

Fun, Fitness and Friends! Walk with us all year round to improve your physical and mental health.

Simple techniques adapted from cross country skiing that are proven to be beneficial for anyone with chronic conditions, mobility or balance issues, and anyone looking to improve their fitness and engagement with the community.

Join in for rolling registration with the Nordic Poll Walking Program! You will no longer need to wait for the next session to begin, registration is now weekly so you can begin walking right away.

 

Stay on Your Feet

 

When balance and stability decline, our mobility and confidence getting around do as well. Get back to life with simple exercises to improve balance stability and mobility for all ages and abilities.

Join in for rolling registration with the Stay on Your Feet program! You will no longer need to wait for the next session to begin, registration is now weekly so you can begin right away.

Stay on Your Feet takes place every Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the Collingwood Central Park Arena (85 Paterson Street).

 

Home Exercise

 

Schedules are busy, finances are tight, but do you have the drive to make healthier lifestyle choices? We can help with a custom home program that provides you with strategies to set goals, make action plans and stick to them.
